i find that this method is working smoothly for me at the moment. rough sketch, block colors, blending, layout.

trying out a painting technique that's quite new to me: painting without lines. started out with blocks of color then refined the image to what you see now. it's damn hard and i need more practice with that technique. for now, this'll have to do.

anatomy practice without lines, direct painting. takes a while to get used to. need more practice. hrrmph.

she slinks into bliss, like fire and honey burning on my tongue.

not really going for a specific concept here, just a random girl in random clothes playing with a random kitten.

010 | turquoise

nothing like a turquoise sky at 4pm. don't quote me on that. i'm color-blind.

009 | midori

means green. roughly inspired by characters in haruki murakami's "norwegian wood" and "kafka on the shore", and sailormoon's cat, and hiroaki samura's "ohikkoshi". strangely enough, i think all those inspirations are related somehow...

008 | hunters

experimenting with some as-yet-unapparent style. maybe it'll shine through in the finished version. we'll see.

just a sketch of a fierce dude. i should start drawing more guys...

003 | radiance

i've always been a fan of bus scenes. like in movies, comics, or in real life; 'girl by the bus window' will always be as much a modern classic as 'girl with headphones' is. well, for me at least

expect to see a finished, pretty-fied version of this sketch soon. most likely when i scrounge enough free time again.

UPDATE! uploaded inked and colored versions. for some weird reason, i prefer the inked version out of all the three images.

remember when you were in high school, when every little issue felt like an insurmountable barrage of problems brought upon you by THIS. CRUEL. WORLD.

well, this sketch is pretty much about that. you're not really as fucked up as you think. other people have it worse. of course, this realization would dawn on you 7 years too late.

playing around with custom brushes. i've always been a default brushes guy, and use only a couple custom brushes frequently. so, in the hopes of expanding my aptitude with custom brushes and maximizing photoshop's features, here's a practice piece. oh, what am i saying, this entire blog is all about practice!
